With offices in the U.S., London and Asia Pacific, Talbot is the managing agent of Syndicate 1183 at Lloyd's. Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance.

Through its expert team of underwriters and a balanced, geographically-diverse portfolio of business, Talbot has earned a reputation as an industry-leading insurance and reinsurance specialist.

The Specialty Claims Team manage claims concerning the following Direct, Facultative Reinsurance, Excess of Loss and Proportional Treaty classes:

  • Financial Lines
  • Cyber
  • Accident and Health
  • Contingency (in run off)
  • Syndicate 1183 and 2019 Claims

How you will create an impact:

  • Responsibility for managing all aspects of the claims adjudication process, providing management and clients with an efficient and effective claims service.
  • Acting within an agreed claims handling authority and upholding the departmental objectives.
  • Establishing and maintaining reserves for complex and large claims
  • Carrying out negotiations with brokers, face to face when required, on claims where Talbot is the leader or second lead
  • Maintaining compliance with internal and external risk controls and regulatory requirements
  • Supervising and monitoring organizations where the syndicate has delegated claims authority
  • Representing the syndicate at market meetings, leading meetings where appropriate

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified or studying towards ACII
  • Handling complex claims through discovery process, dispute resolution, mediation, court, obtaining judgement
  • Delivering projects additional to core role such as those linked to delivering the business strategy or implementing function-wide change
  • Representing Talbot externally at senior level
  • Experience in handling direct and facultative reinsurance claims in the Financial Lines class.
  • Experience in Accident and Health and Contingency claims handling would be an advantage
  • Foreign languages would be an advantage
