In line with transformation, we are excited to develop our Psychotherapy provision across the county and have a Band 7 role in our North Devon child mental health pathway Mood Emotions and Relationships (MERs).

You will be a core multi-disciplinary team member and establish strong connections with child psychotherapists across CFHD, including our new Lead CAPT, also based in North Devon.

We are committed to providing high-quality services to improve outcomes for children and young people and are keen to find the right colleagues to join us.

This role is open to trainees nearing qualification and those with post-qualifying experience.
As a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, you will be a registered member of the ACP.

You will be adept at working with children and young people facing significant mental health challenges and their families/carers/networks.

Your expertise will enable you to undertake specialist assessments and deliver outcome-monitored, short and long-term child psychotherapy.

Crucially, you'll foster collaborative relationships with children, young people, parents, carers, and families, emphasizing a commitment to service user participation.

A comprehensive understanding of safeguarding is essential. You should be keen to contribute to quality improvement.

There is also a growing network of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists in CFHD and across Devon with opportunity for shared CPD and professional support.

We also encourage Trainee placements in the service.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health.

We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

Managing Mood, Emotions and Relationships In this pathway, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists work within a strong multi-disciplinary team to deliver evidence-based interventions, advice and support to children, young people and families, along with systems supporting them such as education and social care.

Children and Young people in this pathway will be experiencing moderate to severe mental health presentations that require a range of responses from services.

The multi-disciplinary teams are diverse including Clinical Psychology, Systemic Psychotherapists, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists, CBT Therapists, Psychiatrists, Speech and Language Therapists and Mental Health Practitioners from a range of backgrounds including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Creative Therapies.

You would have the opportunity to provide consultation, clinical supervision, and training.

The role of the Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist will be to provide individual psychotherapy work, parent work, assessment, supervision, consultation with the team, and contribution to the overall CAMHS service offer and development.

To work closely and in liaison with other agencies who support children, young people, and families/carers who have been referred with mental health needs.

Contribute to the multi-professional team to provide comprehensive specialist psychoanalytic psychotherapy assessments and treatment for children/adolescents with moderate to severe, complex, and persistent mental health problems.

Have outstanding communication skills and the ability to engage with children/young people and their families/carers as well as a range of professionals.

Undertake specialist assessments, manage risks and hold a complex caseload collaboratively using a goals-based approach and routine outcome measures to inform practice

Provide supervision and support to other clinicians with the ability to demonstrate compassionate leadership, to understand and follow HR policies and procedures, ensure staff wellbeing and development and adopt a collaborative approach to engage staff with a range of skills and communication needs.

Work effectively with operational, professional and clinical leadership colleagues to support clinicians in devising and implementing evidence-based care to suit the individual needs of parents/carers and infants.

Doctorate Level ACP accredited training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
Full member of Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

Post qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to children and young people
Post qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervision

Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.

Experience of working with children and young peoples mental health needs, families and parents/carers, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse Essential Application form and interview
Experience of undertaking specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions for in the area of childrens mental health, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments
Experience of safeguarding infants and ensuring the safety of children in partnership with other agencies as appropriate Essential Application form and interview
Experience that evidences an ability to tend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice

Experience in providing effective clinical supervision, teaching, training and assessing in clinical practice

Ability to travel across Devon as needed.
