Qualifications/Licenses/Certifications

Essential

  • Current GMC full registration & license, MRCP, entry on GMC specialist register for Gastroenterology, or 12 months from CCT date or expected Portfolio Pathway approval.
  • Demonstrated independent clinical expertise, knowledge, and skill in Gastroenterology at Consultant level
  • CV showcasing required experience and competencies

Main Duties/Responsibilities

As a Gastroenterology Consultant, you will:

  • Diagnose, screen, treat, manage preoperative, operative, and postoperative patient care
  • Support patients and families, explain diagnoses & treatments using various methods for clarity
  • Plan treatments and monitor patient progress
  • Communicate with patients, promote shared decision-making within the team
  • Lead and work with a multidisciplinary team
  • Assess patient needs, delegate tasks effectively
  • Review patient conditions, report changes to the team
  • Perform basic administrative tasks, maintain records, write prescriptions
  • Conduct research to enhance surgical techniques and outcomes
  • Teach and guide junior doctors, medical students, and team members
