The Role:

Advanced Innovative Engineering seeks a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Lichfield. The Engineer will have a strong mechanical engineering, product design, and development background and can take on challenging engineering activities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and innovative team committed to pushing the boundaries of what is possible with the Rotary Engine, particularly in the aerospace industry.

The Mechanical Engineer will be expected to perform the following duties:

  1. Design and develop propulsion systems, components, and subassemblies for aerospace applications using Wankel Rotary Engine and related technologies
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the design meets customer and regulatory requirements
  3. Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications, and perform complex calculations to ensure design feasibility and compliance
  4. Support manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure a smooth product build and test
  5. Stay current with industry trends and advancements to bring new ideas and technologies to the team
  6. Ability to perform root cause analysis to determine appropriate design action required
  7. Provide Design status and Design Review documentation
Experience and Qualification Summary:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the aerospace industry

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, including stress analysis, thermodynamics, and materials science

Proficient in CAD software (such as SolidWorks) and simulation tools (such as FEA and CFD)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Experience with aerospace regulations and standards is preferred

Understanding of engines (rotating components) in a dynamic environment.

The person:

Self-motivated with an ability to see what needs doing and do it right. Whilst you may have to work alone, you should also be able to communicate with and participate in small group environments. Attention to detail is essential whilst planning and keeping sight of the bigger picture. You must be good at problem-solving.

Hours and Environment:

Thirty-eight hours a week, Monday to Thursday, 8.30 am to 5.30 pm (30-minute lunch), Friday, 8.30 am to 12.30 pm.

21 days plus statutory bank holidays

Remuneration:

The salary for this post will be commensurate with the capabilities and qualifications of the candidate.
