Job Overview:
As a Bid Manager, you will be professional, clear thinking, positive under pressure and results driven, with a 'can do' attitude that inspires respect from within the team and the wider business

The key objectives include:
To champion and deliver winning bids
To convert work winning opportunities into successful profitable contracts
To adopt and manage the end-to-end bid process in accordance with their best in class bid playbook
To support, develop and mentor other members of the bid team as required
To manage a programme of opportunities.

Main Duties:
End to end management of new opportunities - including Expressions of Interest (EOIs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Selection Questionnaires (SQs) and Invitations to Tender (ITTs) and managing concurrent bid deadlines
Ensuring each opportunity adheres to the process identified in the best in class bid playbookincluding setting up all mandatory meetings, utilising agreed forms and templates
Create (where bid lead role) and/or contribute to bid win strategies for each bid - articulating differentiation points from likely competitors and constructing Mitie win themes
Assembling and managing bid teams - setting out plans for bid production, regularly reviewing progress, and ensuring good communications throughout the team
Creating a bid programme so that all internal / external deadlines are captured, resources allocated, and the programme is updated and communicated throughout the bid
Coordinate the necessary management reviews during the bid process
Liaising with the bid team and wider colleagues to agree bid details
Liaising with third parties and ensuring appropriate input into the bid
Analysing the bid documents to understand the client requirements and ensuring the bid team are familiar with all timescales and specific instructions
To set-up the file structure on the SharePoint site, ensuring the documents are stored correctly and the latest version is always available
Managing tender portals and the clarification process, ensuring all team members receive updated clarifications in the agreed format
Adhering to the C39 / Bid-Co governance requirements and the documentation is submitted in line with agreed timescales and that the C39 is saved in the right location on the SharePoint site where version control is tracked
Tracking costs associated with the bid budget and provide regular updates / reports to known stakeholders
To ensure that submission documents are complete and fully responsive to formal and informal questions posed in the customers bid documentation
Ensuring a compliant bid is submitted meeting all client requirements
Setting up meetings and supporting post bid activity including commercial negotiations, presentations and client feedback
Coordinating lessons learned meetings with key bid stakeholders
Preparing case studies and other reference materials
Undertaking external research on the market or specific organisations to support individual bids or sectors
Proactively scanning tender portals and incoming alerts to identify new business opportunities, and working with the bid team to agree bid/no bid decisions and support the creation of 'win' strategies

What we are looking for:
Track record managing bids across multiple sectors
Relevant bid management experience in the public sector specifically
Demonstrable understanding of public sector Clients' likely objectives and Procurement Models
Keeps up to date with new government agenda and client needs and expectations
Intermediary IT Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and understanding of other supporting software
