The Dragonfly Unit provides services for young people in crisis who may be experiencing a broad range of struggles in their lives.

We provide clinical supervision, specialist training and opportunities for professional development whilst being passionate about improving standards and user experience.

The Dragonfly Unit functions within a wider group of specialist community mental health services for young people and their families, which includes generic CAMHS and Youth teams, eating disorder services and an alternative to admissions team.


This role offers an individual the opportunity to contribute to the therapeutic provision of the Dragonfly Unit in several different ways.

These include the provision of direct clinical work, wider team working within the unit as well as multi-disciplinary and inter-agency working with the professional network around our young people.


Direct clinical work can include specialist assessment, formulation and treatment for young people who present with a variety of complex emotional and psychological difficulties.

Group work is an important and valuable part of the unit's therapeutic programme, which the post holder will have an opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of the therapeutic programme.


The team at the Dragonfly Unit prides itself on striving to provide an inclusive and collaborative working environment through the shared vision of an inclusive and supportive culture.

The post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to these working practices through joining multi-disciplinary team discussions, providing and taking part in the ward training programme, as well as providing clinical supervision and reflective practice.

The Dragonfly Unit has free on-site parking and sits on the outskirts of the coastal town of Lowestoft.

The location offers the opportunity to explore the town itself as well as the areas of natural beauty nearby, such as the extensive coastline of Norfolk and Suffolk, as well as the nearby Norfolk Broads.

Lowestoft sits a short drive and train ride away from Norfolk's county town of Norwich.
