Do you have an MSc in Hydrogeology or a similar discipline, along with water resource management experience? Or perhaps you have extensive experience in dealing with legislation influencing water resources and groundwater, and the regulations and standards around drinking water quality?

One third of the Severn Trent Water system is supplied from groundwater sources, obtained from over 100 sources and approximately 300 boreholes.

As our Hydrogeology Tactical Team Manager , you will manage the tactical part of Severn Trent Water's Hydrogeology Team, working closely with the Hydrogeology Strategic Team Manager.

This includes the delivery of training, undertaking root cause analysis and advising on water resource solutions and ground water protection control measures.

You will oversee the delivery of projects and programmes of work to support the team's goals.

You will also work with our stakeholders to protect and enhance the quality of our groundwater, make improvements to our processes/asset data and undertake investigations so that we have the best evidence available from which we can make sound business decisions.

You will use your knowledge and experience to develop and coach your team members and be an active member of industry technical / scientific bodies, helping to lead on policy development.

Tactical support and advice to operational teams to maintain the availability and quality of the water for our customers.

Water quality risk assessments and long-term complex source investigations
Research on emerging contaminants, investigations and external collaboration with treatment process engineers and our innovation team to promote new strategies
Support the development of strategies to inform the Water Resources Management Plan and Business Plan submissions
Building resilience capability into our assets, covering both quantity and quality, and influencing the business to transition away from traditional investment routes
Lead the team undertaking turbidity, water quality and downhole site investigation programmes to inform capital programmes pre-feasibility, and understand DO recovery potential

You will build trusting relationships with regulators and stakeholders including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, the Drinking Water Inspectorate and Defra, as well as Severn Trent Water's senior management team and give them the assurance that groundwater resources are managed effectively for water supply and the environment.

You will represent Severn Trent Water nationally and have the gravitas to influence policy and legislation.
You'll ideally have experience working as a Principal Hydrogeologist or Hydrogeology Team Manger within a water related industry.

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate strong leadership qualities, and preferably has experience of leading a team and inspiring high performance.

You will have excellent project planning and organisation skills, and the ability to manage both proactive and reactive workloads. With skillsets in mind, we're looking for a team manager with a proven track record in hydrogeology/water resources. Legislation regarding water resources and groundwater
The regulations and standards around drinking water quality
Asset management of groundwater assets
Groundwater and water resource evaluation processes and techniques
The regulatory price review and the Water Resources Management Planning processes.
