BettingJobs are currently recruiting for Quantitative Analyst for a leading sports betting syndicate based remotely in the UK.

Responsibilities:

nBuild and maintain predictive models from large sports datasets.nResearch and apply novel modelling techniques.nTest model performance.nThe role will often involve using mathematical models to calculate the expected chance of events happening in a sporting event.

This information will then be used to create associated spread betting and fixed odds prices.nYou will use your coding abilities to apply these mathematical models within the sports applications, to allow our clients the opportunity to bet on a wide range of markets.

This is mostly done in C#, with SQL coding used when interacting with the database.nDue the nature of the sporting calendar, there will be the requirement to offer support outside regular working hours on occasion.


Requirements:
nExperience using advanced statistics and modelling techniques - preferably in sports field.nPhD or other post-graduate qualification in statistics.

machine learning or another mathematical/scientific discipline (or equivalent experience as Quantitative Analyst).nHave a deep understanding of the data, its limitations and meaning, including the investigation of data validity.


  • Have awareness of the limitations of any model output.nHave an understanding of statistical robustness and validity.nStrong programming skills, with a preference for (but not limited to) Matlab, Python and R.nA track record of using data to solve complex problems.nA knowledge and interest in sport will be helpful.nExperience working with cloud computing (desirable).
