Job Duties:
- Assist in developing and implementing behavior management strategies to support students.
- Provide one-on-one or group mentoring sessions to students to address behavior issues.
- Observe and monitor student behavior in various settings and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create individual behavior plans.
- Support students in developing social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior interventions.
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Experience working with children or young adults with behavioral challenges.
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges in an educational setting.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of behavior management theories and practices.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications in behavior management or counseling.
- Experience with restorative justice practices.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
Working Conditions:
This role involves working in a school environment with students who may exhibit challenging behavior. The behavior mentor will need to be flexible in their approach and adapt to changing situations. Regular collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals is required to ensure the success of behavior management strategies.
