We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in
West Sussex to assist with the appointment of a
Care Support Worker, on a
1 Year contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion.


Summary:


You will work as part of a team based within a Residential/Day Centre setting, where the key aim is to support people with high levels of dependency or complex needs and enable every customer to be engaged in their local community to the best of their ability.

For some customers this could be through a time-limited programme of targeted support to build confidence and help develop skills for independent living.

The purpose of this role is to encourage and stimulate customers, through the provision of outcome based care, that promotes independence, community engagement, enables them to develop and/or maintain daily living skills and to attend to their physical, social, mental and emotional needs, ensuring comfort, safety and wellbeing.


Skills

Key Skill 1 Ability to interpret information, such as service complaints, and then redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.

Key Skill 2 Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide clear and concise advice and guidance to a range of customers.

Key Skill 3 Clear, concise basic literacy and numeracy skills in order to record and document activities in the care plan.

Key Skill 4 Able to deal appropriately with expressive behaviour from customers and respond sensitively to their families and carers.

Key Skill 5 Able to build relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Key Skill 6 Ability to work as part of a team completing shared tasks in order to deliver a service to others. Dexterity and/or co-ordination skills necessary to provide personal care, operate equipment and demonstrate activities. Able to encourage and support people to do things for themselves.

Qualifications:

NVQ 2 in Care or equivalent qualification
