As we continue to grow, we are now looking for a Director of Engineering and Ops to join our Data and Engineering team in our Leamington Spa office.
In the role of Director of Engineering and Ops, you will lead our engineering teams, aligning technical capabilities with business objectives. You will drive innovation, efficiency, and excellence in software development, DevOps, and web development. Your role includes fostering a high-performance culture, ensuring security, scalability, and reliability, and effectively managing resources through cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the engineering teams.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to foster cohesive efforts across the organisation.
- Manage resources effectively to support optimal team performance and productivity.
- Cultivate a high-performance engineering culture that encourages continuous improvement.
- Ensure the engineering teams are equipped with the latest tools, technologies, and training.
- Facilitate communication between engineering and other departments to ensure seamless integration and delivery of projects.
Regularly review project progress, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective actions to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
- Maintain high standards for software development by establishing and enforcing coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes.
- Regularly review and update practices to reflect industry standards and emerging technologies.
- Lead the design, architecture, and development of software solutions that meet business requirements.
- Foster a DevOps culture, promoting collaboration between development and operations teams to streamline the development lifecycle.
- Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to improve efficiency and reduce time to market.
- Oversee the management of infrastructure as code, monitoring, and logging to maintain system reliability and scalability.
- Utilise modern web technologies and frameworks to enhance the performance and scalability of web applications.
- Oversee the integration of front-end and back-end services for seamless user experiences.
Identify opportunities for technological advancements and process optimisations, implementing new technologies and refining processes to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and marketing, to ensure cohesive and collaborative efforts across Kwalee.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet the needs of internal stakeholders and contribute to the company's overall success.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Minimum of 10 years of management experience, preferably in software engineering, with a strong track record of strategic and visionary leadership.
- Experience driving innovation, efficiency, and excellence in software development, DevOps, and web development.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and foster cohesive efforts across an organisation.
- Experience implementing metrics and KPIs to track performance and progress of engineering initiatives.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Based in our Leamington Spa office, following our hybrid model with 3 days per week on-site.
