The Roof Gardens were originally created in the Art Deco period and opened in 1933.

In the late 60's the building was taken over by fashion powerhouse Biba and was the pulse of Swinging London.

100ft high above Kensington High Street, set across 3 floors with over an acre of gardens, The Roof Gardens will be a next generation members club that is future-facing, committed to innovation and community, to discovery and to delight.

The club will open in Spring/Summer 2024 as a world-leading members' club affording its community beautiful gardens, bars, restaurants and events spaces alongside a visionary cultural and music programme.


THE ROLE


We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic Runner to join The Rooftop Social to be part of the busy front of house team.

Bringing critical support to our busy restaurant operations, you'll be a key part of the team that makes our members' experiences second to none when they are drinking and dining in the club.


You will learn the structure and process of a first-class restaurant, with hands on work keeping you busy throughout your shift.

Your effort and hard work will provide the foundation to the smooth-running of the restaurant and will be critical to the club's success, whilst providing you with a great springboard from which to launch your hospitality career.


Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Following direction from the senior team to provide the key infrastructure and support for the daytoday restaurant operations
  • Working with the team to prepare the restaurant before service, laying tables, polishing silver/glassware, folding napkins, ironing linen as needed, ensuring all stock and supplies are ready, bins are empty, handheld devices are charged, POS systems are working, PDQ machines are charged etc
  • Running food from the kitchen as directed and communicating promptly with your waiters and head waiters
  • Keeping the waiter stations clean, stocked and functioning well
  • Preempting problems as they arise and flagging these to your Head Waiter in good time so that they can be resolved swiftly and positively
  • Attending training workshops and briefings to further your knowledge
  • Clearing down after service and preparing for the next shift
  • Knowing your SOP manual inside and out
  • Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed to maintain safe working conditions for all the team
  • Managing bottled water operations including bottlecleaning, refilling, labelling etc

  • You will need to be an excellent communicator with great organisational skills
  • You will possess a friendly, characterful demeanour and take genuine pleasure in supporting your colleagues
  • You will be carrying trays, moving tables/chairs and on your feet for extended periods so energy, stamina and resilience are essential.
