Nottingham, Nottingham, United Kingdom Catch22 Full time

Company Description
Catch22 has more than 200 years' experience of providing public services that help people turn their lives around.

We work with troubled and vulnerable people, helping them to steer clear of crime or substance misuse, do the best they can in education or employment, and play a full part in their family or community.

Our vision is a strong society where everyone has a good place to live, a purpose, and good people around them, no matter what their background.

Catch22 College

Catch22 College is the collective name for 10 sites that we have across the country, which deliver academic and vocational training programmes for young people aged 16+ who, for whatever reason, are not suited to a mainstream college setting.

Our Nottingham College site provides learners with a highly supportive environment, where they have access to opportunities to build up their confidence and self belief, and to gain new skills and experiences, that will help them to achieve their goals in life.

We exist to help our learners _find their future_.

The Catch22 College team is small, but aspires to be the best.

Every member of the team is committed to working collaboratively, and flexibly, sometimes covering each other, or going the extra mile, to have the best possible impact for our students.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a highly collaborative team, assisting in the provision, and the delivery of, a quality curriculum.

You will assist in driving improvements in performance, and enhancing outcomes in the engagement, achievement, and progression, of learners.

This role requires a full driving licence, and access to a car.

Main Duties and Accountabilities

  • Working with individuals and small groups of students, ensuring that students are kept on task, and that preset activities are completed.

  • Supervising students at breaks/lunchtimes, taking responsibility for a whole class in the absence of the teacher, and planning and delivering enrichment activities, including PSHE sessions, to support the personal and social development of students.
  • Dealing behavioural and special needs issues, in conjunction with the teacher working with challenging students away from the classroom as a respite strategy, and undertaking behaviour strategies in line with charity policy.
  • Carrying out specific specialist responsibilities (e.g., students with EHCP), and supporting other staff throughout the College in relation to this.
  • Briefing and supporting new staff (including teachers) on student development stages, providing input, and leading on staff professional development where appropriate, during inservice delivery.
  • Taking responsibility for meetings with external contacts (e.g., parents, educational psychologist, GP), and liaising with parents on student progress.
  • Working externally to the College site where required (e.g., trips, educational visits), ensuring that learner files and records are kept up to date, and adhering to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and data protection policies.

About You

  • Highly organised and motivated, with the ability to develop and maintain good professional relationships.
  • Able to motivate and encourage children appropriately, with experience of teaching children with Educational Health Care Plans, Special Educational Needs, language difficulties, or other complex needs.
  • High expectations of students' behaviour, and clear strategies for working with challenging students.
  • Willing to respond flexibly to the needs of a small team.
  • Knowledge of the statutory requirements of health and safety, SEN, and safeguarding of children.
