Role Summary To be responsible for the therapies service strategic development of short and long term priorities as well as ensure robust operational systems, to provide assurance on performance, date management, governance and ensure excellent practice-based interventions are delivered.

You will provide modern leadership to a large group of professions to foster and enhance a solution focused culture.

You will inspire and motivate the team towards improving service delivery to ensure the service is effective and patient and family centred in line with current national legislation, local policies, and procedures Key Responsibilities To be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic direction of the service To be responsible for the allocation of work and implementation of service delivery in accordance with statutory/regulatory policy and procedures for the service To work in partnership withal relevant partners both internally and externally to ensure collaborative, joined up approach is applied.

To ensure robust operational systems are in place, to provide assurance on performance, date management and governance To ensure excellent practice-based interventions are delivered Develop and transform service to improve quality and effectiveness in partnership with patients and their families.


  • Responsible for the therapy service performance and delivery of targets Responsible to ensure robust governance is in place throughout the Therapy service, ensuring appropriate escalation and communication is maintained with the Divisional senior leadership team. To maintain robust HR compliance of area of remit as per Trust policy To maintain appropriate leadership responsibility, ensuring a culture underpinned by the Walton Way values is encouraged within therapies and the wider Division. Promote a culture where staff feel empowered and accountable for the services they provide.
To ensure the patient remains at the centre of all that we do. Develop service development initiatives to meet Divisional and Trusts strategic objectives. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for staff and patients in all areas within remit. To actively seek the views and feedback from patients, families, and other health care professional to further improve service.


To be familiar with change methodology and be able to use and analyse data to drive good evidence decision making.

Participate in the Trust on call rota. Financial and Risk Management To maintain financial grip and control in line with financial envelope provided. To deliver the service within financial envelope provided.

To support the Divisional Director in the wider divisional financial plan.

To identify and deliver QIP/CIP as per allocated target Maintain robust risk management within the therapy service insuring service risks are identified, recorded, monitored, and managed in accordance with risk management strategy.

Be aware of external quality and governance assessments and ensure departments within your area of responsibility are appropriate prepared.

To comply at all times with statutory legislation, directives and Trust standing orders, policies, procedures, and regulations ensuring that appropriate systems are in place across all services.


Strategic Development and Modernisation To support the Divisional Director, and the wider Divisional Senior Team in the development and implementation of the Divisional Strategic aims and objectives forward plan To build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively to improve quality and to identify business opportunities.

To ensure that systems are in place to produce timely and accurate information that is used to support evidenced based decision making To actively participate in and contribute to all appropriate Trust wide service development and improvement projects.

Human Resources To act as a role model of open, honest, transparent leadership To promote the work of the Therapies department To promote an open, honest, collaborative, participative and solution-based culture.

To encourage a culture that enables everyone to bring their whole self to work.


To enhance the performance and motivation of staff, ensuring the effective use of skills and flexibility by promoting professional and personal development.

To ensure that effective two-way communications systems are in place and that all staff have an opportunity to contribute to the development of the Centres strategic and operational objectives and that the team and individual contribution is valued and recognised.

Deliver a supportive and developmental environment in which staff are motivated to realize their full potential as identified through Performance Development Review.

To provide systems and support within the team to deliver the Trust mandatory and statutory training and appraisal compliance.

To oversee the monitoring and management of all sickness absence of the therapy service
