The Position
We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our construction department in Birmingham. In this role, you will be involved in the Lower Essex Street scheme, overseeing a project consisting of 628 units across multiple blocks of varying heights. As a key member of the commercial team, you will collaborate closely with the design and construction teams to manage build costs effectively.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and managing procurement and construction budgets
- Overseeing construction costs and analyzing variances
- Preparing monthly cost reports and valuations
- Leading subcontract meetings and ensuring timely payments
- Contributing to design meetings and value engineering
- Mentoring junior team members
- Handling variations, progress valuations, and contract reviews
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience managing commercial functions in project settings
- Previous work on large commercial or residential projects
- Understanding of modern construction techniques
- Proficiency in tendering, procurement, and Microsoft Office
- HNC/Degree qualification in relevant field
- Effective problem-solving and mentoring skills
Desired Skills
- Experience in leading surveyor teams
- Progress towards MRICS/MCIOB certification
- Background in residential or commercial high-rise projects
