As a Transport Operations Manager you will be accountable for the successful delivery of the day-to-day transport operations at site. You will engage, empower and support the Transport Shift Managers in the smooth running of the transport operation, which range from a variety of tasks that add value to the operation.

In this role, you will lead the transport functions of the distribution centre, ensuring that customer requirements are met efficiently and cost-effectively. In addition, you will liaise closely with the customer to ensure all productivity, legal and compliance targets are met and exceeded.

Role details:

Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 per week

Working pattern: Monday - Friday with rotation of remote weekend on call

Location: Bedworth, CV10 7SE

What you'll do

Accountable for Operational excellence i.e. cost and service including Peak planning/delivery Driving performance through shift managers, strategic planning and resourcing Accountable for Legal o-license compliance (on O License) Work alongside the engineering manager to ensure all operational fleet is safe and legal Be a responsible person for reviewing and manage DVS compliant fleet Ensuring effective communication within the transport department through meetings, briefings, shift managers, DLCs Driving positive change and engaging culture, bringing to life the Gist values Development of shift managers, through IDPs and coaching To communicate across all levels of the business to ensure business critical messages are delivered accurately Improving AVDA performance Customer service management including escalation to store Drive shift performance through the shift managers to achieve KPIs Maintain exceptional levels of legal compliance within the current EU drivers hours rules and regulations Uphold all legislation surrounding the guidelines in regards to road worthiness Conduct Investigations into non-compliance and regular checks to ensure standards are being maintained Accountable for delivery of operational KPIs Liaise with CSM and store management where required Execute growth plans and operational change initiatives Identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiencies Champion safe and fuel efficient driving Driving success through Microlise strategic plan Ownership of continuous improvement initiatives and controllable costs Management of long term absence Accountability for delivering the transport budget

Who you are:

Thorough knowledge and hands on experience in a transport function within the FMCG /Retail Distribution Industry A background operating at a management level is a must Transport CPC licence A passion for encouraging teamwork, focusing on creating an innovative culture where all employees can voice their suggestions and ideas Excellent team management skills for developing shift managers An analytical mindset Flexibility to cover shift managers and a variety of shift patterns in the future You'll come in contact with Trade Unions (previous experience with this would be beneficial)
