Kitchen Manager Job Responsibilities:

As a Kitchen Manager, you'll be at the heart of our culinary team, overseeing food preparation, maintaining inventory, and ensuring safety and cleanliness standards are met. Here's what you'll be doing:
  • Supervise Food Preparation: Lead our kitchen team in preparing delicious meals made from scratch, for our customers. Use your expertise to guide staff in cooking techniques and presentation.
  • Maintain Inventory: Keep our kitchen fully stocked with all the ingredients and supplies we need. Ensure everything is organised and easily accessible.
  • Compliance and Safety: Make sure our kitchen meets all safety and cleanliness regulations. Monitor food handling practices and ensure all staff have the necessary certifications.
  • Team Leadership: Lead by example and inspire our kitchen staff to deliver quality food on time. Delegate tasks effectively and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Communication: Keep open lines of communication with other department heads. Attend meetings and keep the team informed about upcoming events and future plans.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in implementing and enforcing kitchen and restaurant policies and procedures. Ensure everyone is following the rules and regulations.
  • Hands-On Approach: Jump in and help out with food preparation and cooking when needed. Be ready to tackle any task to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and make sure everything is stored correctly. Keep recipe books up to date and ensure daily prep tasks are completed.
  • Budget Management: Keep an eye on labor costs and work within budgeted goals. Identify and address any issues with inventory, systems, or staffing.
  • Staff Training and Development: Oversee training and development programs for kitchen staff. Participate in the hiring process and conduct interviews as needed.
  • Menu Updates: Keep our menu fresh and exciting by suggesting updates and changes. Stay on top of food trends and cater to a wide range of dietary needs.

Kitchen Manager Qualifications/Skills:

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to handle complaints effectively.
  • Excellent people management abilities, fostering teamwork and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Effective planning and multitasking skills, especially during events and large bookings.
  • Budget development and management experience.
  • Self-motivation and a high energy level to keep up with the demands of the job.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle unexpected situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with staff and customers.
  • A Food Hygiene certificate, at least at level 3, to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
