Job Title: DCO Planning Associate – Grid Balancing at an Independent Power Producer

A fantastic opportunity is available for a Development Consent Order (DCO) Associate at a well-established Independent Power Producer specializing in developing, building, financing, and operating cutting-edge Energy Infrastructure projects across Europe.

By joining the Project Development team of the UK's most successful IPP, you will have the chance to collaborate with a team of experienced professionals across Planning, Legal, Land, and Grid functions. You will be involved in diverse projects, including Pumped Storage Hydro, Thermal Hydrogen Generation, Hydrogen Production & Subsurface Storage, Battery Energy Storage, and various Renewable Generation Assets.

Company Location: Based in London with additional regional hubs, offering some flexibility. The ideal arrangement includes a balanced mix of office and remote work, supplemented by on-site and stakeholder visits as needed.

Renewable Energy Planning Associate Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in planning advisory or in-house project development
  • Proficient in the UK planning system at TCPA and DCO levels
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder management, including interactions with local authorities, landowners, and communities
  • Demonstrates strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong data organization and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Holds a valid driver's license

DCO / Planning Associate Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a portfolio of utility-scale energy infrastructure projects from pre-application stage through planning to investment decisions
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Development Director to ensure timely project development across the UK
  • Supervise and coordinate consultants for planning applications
  • Engage with local authorities and communities throughout the planning process
  • Potential to expand the role's scope to include overall project coordination beyond planning activities
