Your Role:

As an Underwriting Operations Assistant, you play a crucial role in supporting various Apollo Underwriting teams, such as ibott 1971's Innovation team and Managing Agency Services (MGA) team.

This position offers you the chance to make an immediate impact by ensuring operational excellence and resilience in underwriting teams, while also ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

What You'll Do:

As an Underwriting Operations Assistant, you will take on the responsibility of supporting underwriting teams by managing all administrative and operational tasks, reporting, and regulatory returns, with a focus on process improvement.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Underwriting Support

  • Attend/minuting meetings and provide support to Underwriters at the Lloyd's Box
  • Handle and resolve operational issues, acquire underwriting information, and track premium payments
  • Create and issue insurance documents like Certificates of Insurance, No Claims Bonus letters, and Notice of Cancellation
  • Continuously identify areas for enhancement, develop, test, and document solutions, and engage in inter-departmental projects
  • Investigate and address policy inquiries

Underwriting Administration - Pre-bind and Post-bind

  • Send Slips, endorsements, and supporting data to an outsourced partner for prompt and efficient recording
  • Manage the flow of new and renewing business and team correspondence
  • Conduct Pre-Bind Quality Assurance, including contract certainty checks
  • Record pricing metrics, validate data accuracy, and handle exceptions
  • Conduct credit control tasks to confirm outstanding premiums, collaborate with brokers and DXC for payments, and manage Aged Debt

Regulatory, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness for both internal and external reporting deadlines, including regulatory submissions
  • Generate bordereaux and supervise data transformation throughout the insurance and reinsurance cycle
  • Compile data and file samples for reviewers/auditors, and provide recommendations
  • Verify Sanctions and Terms of Business Agreement ('TOBA') with brokers

What We Are Seeking:

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency in handling extensive datasets
  • Effective and personable, with exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Basic understanding of the Lloyd's / London insurance market, including its systems and procedures
  • Experience in Managing General Agency (MGA) is advantageous but not mandatory
