London, Greater London, United Kingdom CPJ Field Full time

CPJ Field & Company Ltd, an independent and family-owned Funeral Company is one of the oldest and most established companies in the UK.

In such a personal profession, we recognise the importance of our team members. Our colleagues serve as ambassadors for the family business, and custodians of our company ethos, to care for both the living and the dead.

We currently have a position for a Trainee Funeral Director to join our friendly team at Heritage & Sons in Seaford. Responsible for the smooth running of the funeral home, this role is suitable for those who enjoy the challenge of leadership and setting high performance goals for both the success of the funeral home and the service that the team delivers.

This is a full-time, 39 hour a week role. Must live within 10 miles of Seaford.

Job Description
  • Collaborate with the Funeral Director to oversee the organisation and smooth running of all aspects of the Funeral Home, demonstrating to others the Company's high standard of performance in every role.
  • Deliver the best experience for customers, ensuring their individual needs are always met, and budgets managed.
  • Set high performance goals for the funeral service, ensuring preparation is carried out for a successful ceremony.
  • Help and work alongside colleagues, demonstrating and living the standard of performance required by the Company and working to resolve any deficiencies in the team, using the coaching support of your collaboration with the General Manager, Principal Funeral Director (PFDs) or Funeral Director.
Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Guiding and advising families through the experience of organising a funeral, including meeting customers at locations other than the funeral home, and supporting customers with other funeral related services such as preparing ashes, arranging masonry orders, offering to arrange pre-payment plans for example.
  • Managing all financial matters in relation to the funeral; including responsibility for collection of debts.
  • Promoting the business within the local community and encouraging colleagues to do likewise.
  • Being the main point of contact for the client including working closely with the Funeral Arranger to make sure the client's needs are met.
  • Carrying out care duties such as returning ashes to clients and signposting clients to our products and services as necessary.
  • Providing holiday and sickness cover for colleagues based at other funeral homes. The role requires you to participate in the 24 hour call-out system in accordance with the local rota arrangements.

As a valued member of the team, we aim to offer extra benefits to all our colleagues:

  • Outstanding CPJ Field courses and opportunities to study for industry-recognised qualifications for career progression
  • Pension scheme, sick pay, travel schemes, and support for personal charitable initiatives
  • Annual company gatherings and local funeral home social events throughout the year

This is a unique profession: if this sounds like you and you would welcome the opportunity to join us, please complete the form below. We look forward to hearing from you.
