JTH Recruitment are seeking a Proposals Engineer to join our dynamic established engineering client. Ideally we are seeking an experienced Proposals Engineer although some training will be given. This is a full time office based role working Mon – Fri 08:30-5pm based at offices just outside of Peterborough so candidates will need to be based locally.
The Proposals Engineers typical process involves technical sales engineering and layout conceptualisation, alongside quote generation. The proposals engineer works closely with the concept draughting person as well as their technical sales team. The candidate will ideally have an Engineering background from food or machinery fabrication industry.
The proposals role has a core element of:-

  • Monitoring account activity while connected to the sales team.
  • Logging enquiries and their activity status.
  • Receive the proposals brief from technical sales or direct from customer.
  • Using excel based quote template, generate the quote specific to the enquiry needs using suitable and/or technical sales nominated selections from the internally controlled price-book

* Use own experience and engineering skills to be innovative in developing the final solution.
  • To author the final quotation and present to the technical sales lead.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate throughout the process.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the costs within the price-book spreadsheet / quote template.
  • At times, customer facing
The Candidate:
  • To be eloquent and professional in communicating internally, with partner suppliers and on some occasions, the customer.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • The ability to determine priorities with a positive work ethic – must be done/can do.
  • IT literate in particular with excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Capable of authoring a professional communication in both written and verbal form. The strength of which may see a greater direct involvement with our customers
