We have a great opportunity at HMYOI Cookham Wood to join the Novus team as the Head of Education on a permanent, full time (37 hours per week).**The purpose of this role is to lead a curriculum and support team to deliver services that maximise access to education, opportunity and achievement for all Young People to enhance their employment or further education upon release. We'll need you to strategically plan for the development of the provision to ensure it meets contractual, quality and financial targets.

To do this successfully you'll need to:

  • Lead and manage the Education Manager and Head of Inclusion (SENCo) to ensure that the:
  • Be an active member in all establishment SMT meetings and daily operational briefings held by the YOI Governor, and other strategic meetings
  • Create excellent forwardthinking working relationships with the local community, including schools, YOTs, all full time providers of education and training, and employer partners
  • Timely and proactive management and resolution of issues
  • Through liaison with the YOI Governor, the YJB and the Director of Performance ensure performance data is collected, monitored, analysed and reported as required.
  • Lead and engage in all required supporting governance structures, both within the establishment and our organisation
  • Develop a Local Partnership Agreement setting out joint commitments and responsibilities that support the successful achievement of the aims of Transforming Youth Custody
  • Crossestablishment strategic role, promote working collaboratively as "one team"
  • In partnership with the YOI plan and manage high quality and high performing education services that meet the needs of learners and which are established as an integral and central part of the wider custodial environment of YOI
  • Deliver the transformational changes in line with the contract
  • In partnership with establishment SMT develop a communication strategy, policies and procedures to ensure the wellbeing, safety and security of Young People.
  • Develop positive, collaborative and effective relationships with the YOI SMT staff, all other stakeholders, cocommissioners and other agencies within the YOI and in the community.
  • Lead, plan, develop and sustain a highly skilled, flexible, qualified and experienced education team to meet the individual needs of Learners, and aims of the YOI.
  • Achieve operational, financial and quality targets by effective and transparent planning, analysis and reporting processes
  • Ensure compliance with YOI health, safety and security requirements and that any breaches are dealt with in line with contractual agreements, partnership agreements, and college policies and procedures
  • Through liaison with Central and Student Records teams, ensure accurate and timely reporting of all contractual compliance activity
  • Through liaison with Justice Sector Central and Finance teams, ensure accurate reporting of budget spend
  • In liaison with our Justice Sector HR Team, ensure that employee relations are managed in line with College policy and procedures.
