About the Role:

Mech Electrics are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee and manage the delivery of district heating projects in Leeds.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of a major project involving the pipe works across the city.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of district heating projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against these benchmarks.

Technical Oversight:

  • Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems, including boilers, heat exchangers, and pipe networks.
  • Ensure all mechanical work complies with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Maintain effective communication with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports, addressing any issues or risks that may arise.
  • Foster strong working relationships with all project participants to facilitate successful project outcomes.

Financial Management:

  • Manage project budgets, including cost forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising on quality or safety.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage procurement processes to ensure cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.

Health and Safety:

  • Promote a strong health and safety culture on all project sites.
  • Ensure all project activities adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
  • Resolve any team conflicts and ensure effective team performance.

Qualifications and Experience:
Degree qualified or equivalent in a related field.
Several years' experience in project management within the building services industry, preferably with a focus on district heating.
Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
