We need an AWEsome Tax Assistant to join our team at AWE. This is a diverse in-house mixed tax role for anyone looking to start their career in tax.

Full or Part time hours available to suit those returning after a career break or wanting a role which fits around other commitments.

This role offers a lot of scope for flexibility to suit your lifestyle.

Location:

Hybrid and flexible working, with our offices based in Berkshire RG7 4PR between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury with onsite parking and public transport services.


Salary:

Starting at £26,740 this is open to negotiation if you can dazzle us with an array of AWEsome Excel skills and some relevant Tax experience.

A typical day for a Tax Assistant could look like this:

  • Supporting delivery of financial activities
  • Complying with internal finance control and governance framework
  • Supporting identification and implementation of process improvement activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support IR35 assessments.
  • Complete monthly VAT reconciliations, payments and VAT submissions.
  • Track and approve all relocation claims.
  • Complete PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) analysis and reporting.
  • Support completion of annual corporation tax packs and analysis.
  • Supporting the annual R&D tax credit exercise.
  • Supporting the progression of the Tax Improvement Plan.
  • Helping to identify and implement both process improvement activities and compliance activities, working closing alongside tax support service providers.
  • Operating within a strict internal control's framework.
  • Supporting internal and external audits.
  • Undertake other duties as reasonably required from time to time by the Line Manager.
We would like you to demonstrate or have experience of:

  • Willing to or already working towards a relevant professional qualification and membership (e.g., AAT, ATT) or qualified by experience, is desirable.
  • Effective communication and team working skills.
  • Strong IT skills in particular, MS Excel
  • Able to demonstrate an analytical mind, including good attention to detail.
  • A knowledge and understanding of process compliance.
  • Experience of using best practice financial management processes, tools and techniques, and experience of developing good stakeholder relationships
  • The ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
