By analyzing data related to control systems and sensors, you will maximize equipment availability at your sites. This position will immerse you in Amazon's cutting-edge technology to tackle intricate productivity challenges.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with key systems
  • Collaborate with the EU Controls network to track Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics
  • Deliver data visualizations of troubleshooting to internal stakeholders
  • Lead or actively participate in continuous improvement projects managed by the EU Controls network
  • Ensure all systems are accurately documented and maintain precise backup libraries by working with various departments
  • Install and commission new equipment by collaborating with global colleagues
  • Offer support to other sites within the EU Controls network as required
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and devise improvement strategies compliant with IEC standards

A typical day:
As an **Automation Engineer**, you will serve as the go-to expert for maintaining the smooth operation of critical automated systems on-site. You will work with a variety of automation machinery, from conveyors to sortation systems, ensuring their optimal performance.

If there is a malfunction or room for enhancement, you will take charge in devising and implementing effective solutions.

You will also share your knowledge with your close colleagues.

Keeping your Engineering Technicians informed on device troubleshooting and preventive maintenance control training will enable your team to uphold the efficiency of our automation systems.

The Customer Fulfilment (CF) team is where Amazon's journey began.

Originating as a modest group of book retailers, CF has evolved into a sophisticated global team processing over 1.5 million orders daily.

This team serves as the cornerstone of our business and its endeavors have fueled our expansion into new regions and services.

Through the integration of cutting-edge technology, we continuously seek ways to enhance our product range, ensuring swift and cost-effective deliveries.


The CF team represents the initial link in the chain facilitating customers' receipt of products at the pace we are renowned for.

Situated in Fulfilment Centers, which form the core of Amazon's fast-paced Operations network, these centers are commonly referred to as the 'First Mile' as they mark the starting point for most Amazon packages. They facilitate dynamic inventory management and swift deliveries around the clock.

Diverse individuals collaborate within our Fulfilment Centers, offering a myriad of opportunities for various skill sets.

While some specialize in handling physical products, others leverage data analytics to support informed decision-making across the organization.

We are looking to hire individuals willing to work from the following locations:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- A UK Higher National Diploma (HND), Higher National Certificate (HNC), BTEC National Diploma and Certificate (OND/D), NVQ III/IV/V Engineering Manufacture (or equivalent), Ieng, CEng, ILM L3+, or a fully accredited apprenticeship with relevant subsequent qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production setting
  • Practical exposure to supporting various conveyors and sortation systems
  • Familiarity with material handling, flow, and capacity visualization, and monitoring
  • Proficiency with at least one of the following tools:
  • Microsoft Office, project management tools, and EPLAN
  • Ladder Logic and structured programming from Siemens, Allen-Brady, or Codesys PLCs
Ignition SCADA or a similar platform and Human

  • Machine Interface (HMI) EthernetIP, Profinet, Profibus and AS i or other fieldbus networks
  • VFDs, safety gateways, and input and output devices
  • Advanced fluency in verbal and written English and the local language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, industrial electronics, or another relevant technical discipline

  • Background in working within ISO 13849 and ISO 62061 frameworks
  • Exposure to multi-site environments
  • Project management background encompassing various frameworks such as Agile and Waterfall
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma, data analysis, or process enhancement methodologies
