Today's organisations face manystrategic, financial and operational risks that can stop them from achievingtheir goals.
We take a deep, objective look at a business to decide whether ithas the right systems and control processes in place to manage potentialthreats.
A career in internal audit gives youfront-row seats to how organisations operate.
We visit clients throughout theyear to carry out field work:
we look at their existing controls and test theirstrategies.
We then write an audit report to document our findings and providethe client with management actions to address any improvement areas that we haveidentified.
We help clients across the public andprivate sectors, so you could be working with local and central government, NHSTrusts and educational organisations, as well as charities, banks and othercorporate organisations.
Our varied client list will give you a greatfoundation to build your business knowledge.What can you expect?
At RSM, you'll be a key member of ourteam from day one.
You'll get involved in client work very quickly, initiallyworking as part of a larger team before taking on individual responsibility forprojects.
The depth of services and clients you'll be exposed to will help youkick-start your career.A typical working week could includeworking on client sites for a day or two a week which will involve travelstraight from home to your clients, which can be up to 1 hour 30 minutes away.
On other days, depending on the needs of the business and our clients, you maybe working with colleagues in your nearest RSM office or you may be workingalone (with on-line supervision) from home as appropriate.
RSM'sgraduate programme in internal audit is infinitely varied, interesting andrewarding. No client is the same so you'll be constantly challenged.
Alongsidehands-on experience, you'll benefit from on-the-job training from more seniormembers of the team and gain access to our internal training courses that willhelp you develop in the role.
With our support, you'll become a true trustedadviser to your clients in the future.Whenyou join this team, you'll work towards your professional qualifications bycompleting a 3-year graduate programme.
This consists of the CIA qualification(Certified Internal Auditor) for the first 18 months years, followed by theCMIIA qualification (Chartered Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors)for the remaining 18 months.
We do offer a limited number of vacanciesto study towards the ACA qualification with the Institute of CharteredAccountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), or your Chartered Accountancy (CA)qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) orwith Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI).
Please note, only graduates with 112UCAS points across 3 A Levels (or an equivalent level 3 qualification), or 104UCAS points across 4 Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers or Irish LeavingCertificate (Higher Level) will be eligible for this and are subject toavailability.
Study options will be discussed with youduring the assessment process.
The qualification training we offer isfully supported with study leave and training costs are met by RSM.
Tosuccessfully achieve your professional qualifications you will however need tocommit personal time in the evenings after work and at the weekends to studyand ensure you are well prepared for the examinations.
What we look forInternal auditors spend a lot of timeworking independently so we're on the lookout for enthusiastic self-starterswho are quick to learn and always up for a challenge.
That said, you'll alwaysbe fully supported during the audits – you'll have a dedicated line manager andcore team to learn from and be supported by.
You'll be working on a widevariety of projects, so it's important that you're adaptable and highlyorganised.Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential asyou'll be communicating at all levels, often explaining complex informationboth in meetings and in written reports.

Entry requirements
At RSM, we don't just look for good examresults. We think passion, personality and originality are just as important.
You will need:
96 UCAS points across 3 A Levels or anequivalent level 3 qualification, or 104 UCAS points across 4 ScottishHighers/Advanced Highers or Irish Leaving Certificate (Higher Level);
A predicted/obtained honours degree.
