Cobbs Farm Shop
We aim to inspire, provide and produce the best of local and beyond. We are passionate about our food, coffee and great customer service. Established in 2007, the group now operates 5 farm shops, cafes and kitchens. Our shops offer easy access to; fresh local produce and the best staple and culinary delights.

Our flagship stores have a restaurant / café and Cobbs Farm Shop has its own production kitchen, which provides freshly made produce for the rest of our sites.

The group continues to grow both at its established shops and with new shop openings, centred in South East England within the next few years.


The Job

As a shop supervisor, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the daily operations of the shop, including opening and closing, cash handling, stock control, and health and safety.
  • Supervising and motivating a team of sales assistants, ensuring they deliver excellent customer service and meet sales targets.
  • Addressing customers' requests, comments, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Training new staff members and scheduling shifts, as well as providing feedback and coaching to improve performance.
  • Working closely with the shop manager and other supervisors to achieve the shop's goals and objectives.
To be a successful shop supervisor at Advert, you will need:

  • Previous experience in a similar customer-focused retail environment, preferably in the advertising industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with customers and staff at all levels.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop your skills.
  • A flexible approach to work, with the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
  • A passion for advertising and creativity, with an eye for detail and design.

What's in a day?
A day at Cobbs is one of hard work, variety and excellent customer care. You must be able to multitask, as we are a small team, and it really is all hands-on deck. You will be expected to help in other areas of the café when needed and manage your teams effectively

  • Fast thinking and the ability to react to changes in customer volume during the day
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Approachable and friendly manner
  • Monitor and control stock to ensure GP% is hit
  • Controlling budgets
  • Motivating a team of staff to deliver expected service standards
  • Customer Service, Food Quality, Consistency
  • Staff Management & Development (i.e. training)
  • Health and Safety and EHO Food Safety

What sort of hours will I work?
The role of supervisor is full time; up to 45 hours per week over 5 days.

We run 8/9 hour shifts at Cobbs Farm Shop, but these shift patterns will sometimes have to increase during busier times like Christmas, Easter and bank holiday weekends.

You will be expected to work weekends, but you will have one full weekend off a month. This can change when holiday cover is needed. You will be responsible for forecasts and rotas.

What qualifications / experience do I need?

  • A proven track record in a similar environment
  • Sales flair
  • Leadership skills
  • Big charisma so you can chat easily with guests
  • Enthusiasm for sales
  • Experience at a Senior Supervisor or manager is essential.

You need to be approachable and a people person as you will work very closely with all departments and must be able to deal with stressful situations calmly and in a professional manner.
