Company Description

Chubb fire and Security are looking for a Fire Risk Assessor to join us in Fire Consultancy.


This is a new role that has been created due to the demands on the Fire Consultancy division.
It will be covering the North West and North East region.

The main aim of this role will be to identify fire hazards and risks, record findings and advise on fire prevention.

Identify people at risk, as well as evaluate, remove or reduce the risks. Create a compelling Fire Risk Assessment report on completion of the on site survey.


Also to assess and report on the findings of the quality and functional elements of the fire doors requested to be inspected on site.

Job Description:

  • Be mentored whilst learning the role/requirements of the company in both disciplines
  • Attend training courses/complete training modules in order to enable examination completion
  • Work carefully to follow strict fire safety legislation and guidelines set by the government under the "Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005"
  • Identify hazards and assess the potential risk of a fire breaking out in the premises
  • Keep up to date with changes in in legislation in relation to fire safety utilizing government guidelines & bulletins taking responsibility for your continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Provide fire safety advice to clients, both verbally and in a detailed written report
  • Produce indepth reports to show your findings from the assessments you've completed. These will be written reports and a standard template will be provided for the same
  • Managing time to ensure preparation for attendance on site and calling ahead to confirm appointments
  • Liaising with the administration staff to ensure accurate information is given and followed by both parties in order to deliver at the correct time and site as required by the customer
  • Build strong, credible relationships both with colleagues/internal & external customers.
  • Achievement of agreed service level targets to ensure achievement of consistently high levels of customer service and mínimal customer attrition
  • Ensure adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Be fully conversant and compliant with all Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
  • Complete quarterly ethics module as advised by Ethics & Compliance Officer (ECO)
  • Fully comply with all Quality, Environmental Health and Safety directives including but not limited to PPE, Accident Reporting, Cardinal Rules, Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), and Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE).

Qualifications:

  • Must have some kind of vocational course relating to fire safety or fire risk assessment.
  • National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management or an International Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management
  • Relevant experience is very important. Experience with the fire service can be valuable, as can experience managing health and safety more generally, for people or premises.
  • Knowledge of current relevant fire legislation and building regulations as a minimum.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good verbal communication skills that enable you to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Good written communications skills for report writing
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Technical knowledge of fire safety and building materials
  • Commercial focus with an ability to understand a client's risks and drivers
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel
  • An ability to prioritise your workload to meet agreed deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • An ability to work independently, using your own initiative
  • Technical understanding in areas such as fire dynamics, heat transfer and smoke behaviour principles in enclosed environments.
  • Full UK driving licence is required
