Apprenticeship programme


During this 42-month programme, we will help you to develop your practical skills and knowledge required for you to succeed in this role as well as your future career.

Throughout this programme, you will continue to develop your behaviours such as team working,problem-solving and customer focus. Veolia as a business is not only interested in what you accomplish, but the manner you do it.


The apprenticeship programme will consist of 3-years of academic, practical and on-site learning followed by a further 1-year on-site training, you will achieve a broad range of technical and professional experience, such as a Level 3 Diploma, Level 3 Competency& Knowledge Skills Certificate, as well as H&S (IOSH) Awareness Training.

Training will consist of a combination of block release at the AMRC - Sheffield,attendance at college, and also on the job training at Veolia Sheffield ERF.


What will you be doing?


The role of an ERF Apprentice at Veolia is a varied and challenging role, you will be exposed to all aspects of the process from plant operating techniques to preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.

Continuous advancements in technologymean you will be involved in various plant efficiency improvements which will require you to develop new skills and integrate new equipment on-site.

State-of-the-art technologies and challenging targets ensures no two days are the same for an Engineer in ourERFs.

What are we looking for?

  • 5 GCSE grade A* C or grades or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science / Predicted grades.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
  • A keen interest in Engineering and awareness of Health and Safety
  • Flexibility is key to the role as the ERF runs 24/7 so an element of shift work will be required in order to gain exposure to all the roles on the plant.
  • Secondments to other ERFs will be a necessity to broaden the experience so the ability to travel will be required.
