Subsea7 are looking for a Senior or Principal Fracture Mechanics Engineer to join our Pipeline Group (PG) team on a full time, permanent basis located at our Sutton, London office. PG is tasked with supplying projects with rigid pipeline installation and fabrication that meets specified requirements.

As a Senior or Principal Fracture & Fatigue Engineer you will sit within the Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) team who carry out assessments on our subsea pipelines, specifically around fracture mechanics-based welding, ensuring accordance with industry codes and standards, design guides, client specifications and scopes of work.

Whilst candidates will ideally have experience working in the energy industry, we welcome applications from other industries such as, but not limited to, nuclear, utilities, aeronautics, academia (e.g., PhD graduates), etc.

What will you be doing?

  • Supervise project ECA activities and assess required resource adjustments
  • Provide ECA engineering support to Concept study, Tendering and FEED study execution
  • Conduct advanced 3D finite element analyses associated with subsea pipeline installation engineering
  • Write technical project documents
  • Perform checking of analysis work of peer ECA analyst
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines (material and welding, installation, and pipeline design engineering) client and 3rd party
  • Coordinate internal R&D study and engineering improvement projects as assigned

What experience would we like you to have?

  • You will be degree qualified in a relevant engineering or similar subject
  • You will have relevant experience working within a similar role, with a documented history of fracture mechanics and fatigue assessment of welding
  • You should be proficient with Abaqus for 3D FE modelling
  • You should have a comprehensive knowledge of relevant structural integrity assessment codes, i.e., Bs7910, DNV, API, etc)
