Norton Hall Children & Family Centre is seeking a Mentor for our Starfish Project team


Norton Hall Children and Family Centre are currently expanding our work with children and young people and would like to recruit a Mentor and Positive Activities Facilitator who will support children and young people who need support due to a number of challenges they face.


Our Starfish Project supports children and young people from aged years providing 1-1 mentoring support alongside a range of positive activities to build positive relationships and engage them into meaningful activities to further develop their personal, social and emotional development.


Mentor Duties:

Engaging in One-One Mentoring and Positive Activities

  • Develop effective onetoone working relationships with an identified young person at risk and their families/carers. To provide them with individual support and mentoring. This may involve One to one session at school or in the community and a range of other youth work strategies to engage the interest of young people and their families.
  • Provide them with ongoing advice, practical support, and encouragement to enable them to participate in positive and constructive activities and a range of informal learning and personal development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate, up to date records of case work and record with a keen eye for detail.
  • Research and provide young people with basic information on the range of learning, training and career options and support services available to them, referring to specialists where necessary.
  • Support the Youth Programme activities provided by the organisation, such as trips or youth clubs.
  • Providing a safe and supportive environment for Children
  • Young People to feel at home and connect with other youth in the community.
  • Working with CYP to develop their skills, interests, and goals.
  • Providing opportunities for CYP to develop and grow while learning life skills that will help them be successful in life.
  • Participating in activities that will help build selfesteem, build identity, and help them gain knowledge and skills that will help them succeed in life.
  • Be proactive and youthled in coming up with ideas for how to better engage young people in the organisation, particularly the target group of young people the charity aims to support.
