Role: Project Specialist

Purpose of role: Planning and overseeing new distribution center and logistics projects

Reports to: Senior Project Manager

Location: Flexible - UK, Ireland, Netherland, Spain

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project manage designated elements of new distribution center automation projects, including design and build, distribution site conversions, building fit out, automation installation, system implementations, IT system development, testing, training, and operations transition.
  • Act as the custodian of the project plan, ensuring tasks are completed as scheduled by building relationships with suppliers and workstream leads.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans by consolidating inputs from various workstream leads and identifying dependencies, successors, and predecessors.
  • Collaborate with Automation providers, building contractors, IT teams, Operations, and Testing teams to optimize project plans and manage parties involved.
  • Conduct weekly project plan updates with workstream leads to monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and local regulations while managing projects.
  • Work closely with operational teams to align business and operational requirements during the transition phase.
  • Support Lead Project Manager in setting and achieving business case objectives and KPIs.
  • Develop transition and cutover plans and assist in the transition from project to business as usual.
  • Undertake analytical tasks as requested by Lead Project Manager including process reviews and designs.
  • Take full responsibility for specific work packages on development projects for personal growth and competence development.
  • Act as a deputy for the Senior Project Manager when necessary.

The ideal individual will be:

  • Demonstrated project management experience in automated distribution center implementation at a large scale.
  • Highly experienced and effective project manager with a proven track record in domestic and international projects.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to deliver under pressure and challenges.
  • Proficient in project management methodology and Microsoft Project planning tools.
  • Possess strong end-to-end supply chain awareness and understanding.
  • Self-motivated, focused, and capable of achieving corporate objectives within deadlines.

Core Skills

  • Project management qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in supply chain and logistics project management.
  • Team management abilities.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Project for Critical Path, Resource Usage, and Task tracking.
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills within a matrix environment.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced supply chain setting.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work away for extended periods.
  • Strong administrative skills.
