Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom North Bristol NHS Trust Full time

Join us in creating a sustainable future. We are seeking a highly motivated Green Spaces Co-ordinator to join the Strategic Estate Development and Sustainable Health Team at North Bristol NHS Trust. You will have plenty of opportunity to make a big difference to people's lives and be part of a dynamic team both within the Trust and with our partners in the Integrated Care System to meet our shared goal of enhancing our green and blue spaces for nature and patient health and wellbeing.

In this role you will be responsible for improving the provision, quality and utilisation of our green and blue spaces to facilitate Arts on Referral and green social prescribing programmes. You will work closely with our Fresh Arts team to integrate nature-based activities into existing Arts on Referral programmes and will create a combined arts and nature green social prescribing programme dedicated to helping patients living with chronic pain, renal, head injuries, cancer or respiratory conditions to manage their condition.

You will work closely with clinical teams, local community organisations and partners to identify and address barriers preventing equitable access to green spaces and green social prescribing. Through your work, you will support the delivery of the Healthier Together ICS Green Plan biodiversity and healthier with nature objectives and will have the opportunity to scale initiatives across the ICS.

Main duties of the job
  • Work alongside Fresh Arts to develop and deliver a targeted arts and nature green social prescribing programme for patients living with chronic pain, renal, head injuries, cancer or respiratory conditions.
  • Work with Fresh Arts and community partners to integrate green social prescribing principles into existing Arts on Referral programmes.
  • Develop and deliver a programme to enhance biodiversity of the site.
  • Build on existing and starting new relationships with external organisations and community partners that can facilitate green social prescribing programmes.
  • Identify barriers to accessing green spaces and green social prescribing and work with relevant stakeholders to address these.
  • Chair the ICS Biodiversity Workstream and liaise with Integrated Care System partners to identify opportunities for system-wide projects and ways of working.
  • Facilitate the monitoring and evaluation of green social prescribing programmes, through the collection of data.
The ideal candidate will have a degree, equivalent education or experience in an appropriate field.

You may already be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge, involvement or implementation of projects in nature recovery and green social prescribing. Previous experience facilitating activities for vulnerable people with complex needs would be beneficial.

You will be prepared to present and report progress of nature recovery and green social prescribing programmes to the Sustainability and Fresh Arts Managers. About us North Bristol NHS Trust employs over 12,000 staff providing healthcare from our award-winning hospital building at Southmead. We are the regional Major Trauma Centre and an internationally recognised centre of excellence for a range of services. We commit to treating each patient as an individual with respect and dignity, aiming to deliver excellent clinical outcomes and a first-class experience for everyone who uses our services.

In 2019, we declared a climate emergency and an ecological emergency alongside our partners in our Integrated Care System and set a target to achieve net zero carbon by 2030, ahead of the Government's national target. We provide award winning sustainability services and champion the delivery of our health system's Green Plan which sets out actions to achieve net zero carbon. We work closely with our system partners to drive change.
