Edible Estates is seeking to recruit either a full time workshop leader or 2 part-time workshop leaders, to deliverconstruction workshops in community gardens in Edinburgh. Edible Estates is a Community Interest Company set upin 2017 to instigate and deliver community greenspace projects across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Since 2021, wehave been been contracted to Edinburgh Council to deliver upon its Community Gardening Framework, supportingcommunity gardening in the city's council estates. We have been responsible for the construction of over twentycommunity gardens across the city. Our Learning & Wellbeing Programme seeks to use the construction of ourcommunity gardens as an opportunity to provide learning and wellbeing activities for folk of all ages, includinghigh school pupils, young adults and the over fifties.

The Construction Workshop Leaders deliver volunteer workshops within our Learning & Wellbeing Programme. Theseworkshops play an important role in the construction of the community gardens and other green infrastructureprojects which we deliver in Council estates across Edinburgh. The successful candidate will have experience andskills in joinery and general construction coupled with the ability to lead small groups of volunteers (up tofive participants) in construction activities. In particular, experience of first fix joinery, roofing andtimber cladding, simple foundations and other general construction activities is important. Experience inlandscaping and/or horticulture would be advantageous but not essential.

Construction Workshop Leaders have responsibility for the planning, preparation and delivery of workshops to buildbespoke timber stud construction sheds and other garden infrastructure in community gardens across Edinburgh.The workshops would also support the development of participants' soft skills.

Some of the workshops will be delivered to groups of adult volunteers under our Lend A Hand project, some to highschool aged pupils under our Growing Youth - High Schools project, or to young adults through theGrowing Youth - Young Adults project. The overarching aim of these projects is to provide learners andvolunteers with practical experiences which will improve their life chances and support them on to positivedestinations, such as employment, further volunteering, training and education. The workshops should be safe,enjoyable, paced to the needs of the participants and result in good quality construction, as well as a positiveexperience for volunteers.

About The Role

To deliver the Reactive Repairs and Voids function of the organisation to ensure an efficient and effective serviceis provided with excellent customer service. Monitor and report on key performance indicators, in line withprocedure. To support and develop the team of Repairs Advisors in line with Hanover's people managementprocedures.

Main Duties

  • Support delivery of the strategic objectives of both Asset Management and Hanover.
  • Deliver the reactiverepairs and voids service proactively promoting excellent customer service as set out in our target timescalesand general customer service requirements.
  • Monitor the reactive repairs and voids processes undertakenby the Repairs Team proactively to minimise variations promoting excellent budget control, ensure works areaccurately recorded to facilitate right first time and support the team to use additional technical advice whenrequired.
  • Update and check data, ensuring information held on any database is accurate and up to date,producing KPI data as and when required and identifying, in liaison with the Repairs and Voids Co Ordinator ,any actions required to improve performance.
  • Deliver excellent opportunities for customer feedback onthe repairs service, carry out analysis in liaison with the Repairs and Voids Co Ordinator to ensure anyrequired improvements are actioned.
  • Lead, motivate and manage the team to provide an excellent servicesuited to current and future organisational needs with excellent customer service.
  • Monitor contractors'performance ensuring a high standard of work is provided at all times and to work with the Repairs and CustomerSafety Manager to ensure any performance issues are dealt with in a timely manner and a solutioncreated.
  • Liaise with other employees involved in the void process, ensuring void turnaround times arekept to a minimum and within our required target timescales.
  • Deal with any complex reactive or voidrepair jobs, escalating any which are of highly technical or costly nature to the appropriatestaff/manager.
  • Manage any complaints relating to the reactive repair or voids service in a timely mannerand in line with our customer service standards. Ensure all responses are within the required target timescaleand completed to a satisfactory conclusion. To coordinate any required actions/lessons learned to ensure areduction in complaints relating to the service.
  • Assist in the monitoring of the repairs and voidsbudget ensuring that all jobs provide value for money. Highlighting any issues to your linemanager.
  • Monitor contractor variations, limiting these were possible. Monitor and approve payments forall reactive and void works in a timely fashion, ensuring that any financial regulations and procedures arealways followed.
  • Ensure repair and void recharges are promptly actioned and maintained and that allcolleagues involved in the process are kept up to date.
  • Assist the Repairs and Customer Safety Managerto ensure that there is a full suite of policies and procedures around the repairs and void functions, thatthese are implemented and monitored.
  • Deliver the checks on all contractors to ensure that they meet therequired standards for onboarding and continual health & safety and insurance requirements.
  • Manageformal processes for your direct reports by working in partnering with the HR team and conducting investigationsor hearing disciplinaries and appeals, where required, to ensure an impartial, prompt, and confidential approachis taken and fair outcomes are delivered, in line with employment legislation, best practice, and HR policiesand procedures.

Role overview

Ecas runs two art and crafts activities each week and is seeking a Group Leader for the Friday morning craft groupand/or the Friday afternoon art group. The roles involve the smooth running of the craft and/or art group usingthe most appropriate objectives, methods and materials on a case-by-case basis with the aim of encouraging groupmembers to take part in the activities and to become more independent in their outlook.

Experience required

The post will interest anyone who has qualifications (or a willingness to work towards a qualification), skills andexperience in craft and/or art.

  • Craft activities such as felting, printing, crochet, handicrafts and jewellery making.
  • Art activitiesthough painting, drawing, collage, sculpture and mixed media.

Group Leaders are encouraged to develop new projects based on their own skills set and adapt to individual needs asrequired. The successful candidate must be willing to undertake further and ongoing training as part of theirprofessional development and as deemed appropriate to the role of Group Leader.

Experience of teaching is desirable but not essential if Group Leaders can demonstrate an understanding of what totake into account when supporting service users of varying needs and abilities; ability to plan a coursetailored to meet individual needs; a knowledge of a range of teaching methods and use of materials; anunderstanding of the required aims and a willingness to work in a person centred way. As The National Partnership Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Strategic Partnerships & BusinessDevelopment function for Scotland. You will manage a team of embedded Senior Project Officers working within thepartner national organisations and delivering in partnership with a broad range of local stakeholders to developand deliver local Active Travel Strategies, Visions and Plans.

About you

You should be an experienced leader, expert at developing and maintaining relationships at senior levels in a varietyof sectors e.g. National organizations, Local Authority, business and industry bodies. You should have linemanagement experience and substantial experience of project management, including budget management.

You must have the ability to communicate authoritatively and persuasively to a range of audiences, with demonstrableexperience of remote and face-to-face partnership development techniques.

Having been operational in Edinburgh and Lothian for many years, Into Work has a long-standing record of successfulpartnership working and project delivery for disabled people. Due to the expansion, we are now looking forsuitably experienced and motivated people to join our growing staff team for both our Disabled Young People andDisabled Adult service.

For some people, the idea of working or engaging with employability services can feel unachievable and seem like anunrealistic prospect. To enhance our user experience and encourage engagement, we offer additional in-housewraparound support including Income Maximisation and Wellbeing input. We help disabled people take those firststeps towards making sustainable employment a reality.

Working alongside the Young People Project Lead your role on the project is to support young disabled people aged 16to 24 on a 1:1 basis initially, then supporting them to progress to groupwork sessions further into the processand ultimately, into a positive destination such as education, training, volunteering, employment, employabilityprogrammes and onward referrals for continued support.

Focusing on young disabled people who have no identified positive destination, you will be helping them to exploreemployability, wellbeing and strengthening community connections.

Disabled Adults Service – Role Summary:

This service involves advisers working with a caseload of clients on a 1:1 basis, using the 5-stage model ofsupported employment.

Collaborating with Income Maximisation and Wellbeing colleagues to provide wraparound support and ensure a positiveemployment journey for clients.

Developing working relationships with local agencies to establish appropriate referrals and linking in with employersto promote opportunities.
