What you'll be doing

Thames Water Ventures is a separate non regulated business within the Thames Water Group It is focussed on renewable energy projects and generally on commercialising Thames Water assets.

This is an integral and exciting position for a dynamic individual to bring their passion and commercial expertise to provide first class legal support to senior management and business units within Thames Water Ventures.

These legal services will include renewableenergy, commercial services and procurement, engaging external legal support as needed.

You will play a key part in the setting up of this new ventures division at this critical time of change.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Provide commercial and legal best practice support and assist with negotiations for commercial and procurement deals
  • Be a reliable point of contact for Senior Management including the CEO, CFO and other directors and consider the legal aspects of business operation
  • Assist in preparation and determination of strategic decisions and act in the best interests of the Ventures Group
  • Review supply and service contracts with particular focus on renewable energy.
  • Managing and engaging with external legal counsel on energy deals and procurement terms
  • Communicating with Thames Water Utilities as a related party, engaging with processes, approvals, contract negotiations and delivery
  • Keep abreast of related legal developments in the business area

What you should bring to the role:

  • You will be a fully qualified lawyer with a minimum of 3 years of commercial experience, a procurement or energy background would be beneficial.
  • Excellent academic achievements with a 2.1 or 1st class degree
  • Previous experience within a well established, reputable law firm
  • A self starter with strong ethics, a sense of conviction, dynamic and the passion to deliver the best possible outcome and exceed expectations
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment.
