An exciting opportunity has risen for a dynamic, self-motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, to work on Ward 26. We are currently a 29 bedded surgical ward based on ward 26 - Head & Neck.
This role requires you to be assertive, flexible, resilient, forward thinking, and ready to develop your leadership skills in an acute setting. You will be required to always take charge in challenging circumstances and support junior colleagues, especially in the absence of the Ward Sister.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experience and dynamic nurse who is willing to enhance their leadership skills. The role is to consistently drive excellent clinical quality standards by providing visible clinical leadership to the team and support them in the delivery of high quality, effective and evidence-based care. Focus will be on patient experience, patient safety and providing assurance that standards are met for every patient, every time.
You will be responsible for supporting the Band 7, to provide management support for Ward 26, which entails managing the Nursing team. This includes, but not limited to:
Allocation of staff to teams, and ensuring they are working within their level of competence. Working alongside Doctors, to ensure patients receive appropriate care. Liaising with the operational team, to ensure timely transfer of patients out of the unit to appropriate ward areas. Taking charge in challenging circumstances within the unit, and ensuring that support is given to junior colleagues at all times. Assisting the Band 7 to ensure appraisals, mandatory training and competency assessments for all nursing staff are kept up to date.Overall, the focus of this role is to ensure theunit is safe and functional at all times.
