Job Introduction

The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra is reimagining the orchestral experience for a new generation – challenging perceptions, championing innovation and taking a rich variety of music to diverse audiences. The orchestra has a rich history of performances, recordings, and engagements, enriching the musical landscape.

Main Responsibilities
  • Sit as Principal Viola (No. 2), stepping up to Section Principal as required
  • Demonstrate excellent solo and orchestral playing abilities
  • Support Section Principal in all areas
  • Be an effective leader when leading the section
  • Develop positive relationships with conductors, freelancers, and orchestra members
  • Play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the orchestra's reputation
