RPS is looking for a
Legal Contracts Specialist to join our Legal and Commercial team in Abingdon. This role will see you providing commercial and contractual support to the Consulting UK/I division.

As Legal Contracts Specialist, you will report to the Consulting UK/I Senior Legal Counsel.

The role will involve working directly with businesses and offices within the UK and Republic of Ireland on contractual and related legal matters.

This is a practical hands-on role that will require the development of effective relationships within a people based multi-disciplinary consulting organisation.

Ad-hoc travel to UK/I offices may be required (sporadic).

This role is suitable for hybrid working and will be offered as a permanent position with full-time or part-time hours - we can be flexible around you.


What you'll be doing

  • Complete contract reviews, passing more complex legal queries to Senior Legal Counsel for final review
  • Assist the Legal Team in providing guidance on all contract matters
  • Identify commercial and contractual risks
  • Ensure compliance with current review processes and corporate governance guidelines.
  • Complete documentation prior to presentation of contracts for signature at the appropriate level
  • Support the Legal Team in providing advice to businesses on the meaning and interpretation of contractual terms and contractual amendments to mitigate risk

Who we're looking for

  • Degree qualified in Law and/or relevant inhouse experience in a legal contractual setting
  • Good understanding of contract fundamentals, compliance, administration and commercial contracting
  • Skilled in reviewing contracts, subcontracts, amendments, variations and Statements of Work
  • Experienced in reviewing legal terms and conditions under tight deadlines and responding to ITT's, RFP's etc in a timely manner
  • Good interpersonal and team working style
  • Good planning and organisational abilities
  • Able to prioritise workload accordingly and work independently
  • A pragmatic, solutionfocussed approach
  • Confidence to interact with Senior Management.
It would be advantageous if you had the following:

  • Construction Act knowledge (including any contentious construction law experience)
  • Previous consultancy experience, coupled with built and natural environment industry exposure
  • Experience of bid management and different procurement routes to market
