Main Function of the role:

nThe Senior Analyst role offers varied exposure across the activities of the US SMID strategy (and therefore by association the SDG and Global Sustainable Equities strategies).


The primary focus of the role will be contributing towards the overall valuation analysis, including feeding into the building of financial models in addition to assessing key assumptions and sensitivities; and the general provision of data/analysis required to support investment decisions.

Additional ad hoc might include responses to client requests and contribution to the US SMID marketing materials.

Key task and responsibilities:
n

  • Contribute towards the research, analysis and evaluation of a variety of investment opportunities, including early-stage opportunity screening through to detailed assessment of prioritised investments.n
  • Valuation analysis, including the building of financial models in addition to assessing key assumptions and sensitivities.n
  • Prepare presentation of past company performance and growth trends, in addition to wider macro regulatory and industry factors, and other relevant topics as required.n
  • Prepare investment reviews and recommendations to the Portfolio Managers and/or investment presentations to existing or prospective clientsn
  • Ad-hoc analysis in relation to, inter alia, investment themes, economics and strategy, portfolio exposures and risk.n
  • Participate in peer reviews of investments, portfolio review/optimisation discussions and other portfolio management activity.n
  • Periodic qualitative and quantitative assessment of progress of engagement plans and reporting thereon.n
  • Assist with administrative duties such as maintaining and improving research reports and databases.n
  • Production of valuation modelling to the level expected and in a timely manner, as directed by the Head of US equities.n
  • Project management of activities other than the above.n
  • Adherence to all external and internal compliance requirements and Federated Hermes behaviours.

Candidate Profile:
n

Excellent academic qualifications, will be educated to at least honours degree level and ideally CFA.n

  • Ability to construct detailed financial modelsn
  • Proficiency in valuation methods including DCFs and other valuation methods on companies and strong data mining skills.n
  • Strong analytical skills, initiative, independent thinker, highly numerate and computer literate, in particular Microsoft Excel. A self starter.n
  • Passion for investing and a desire to develop a career within fund management.n
  • Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in both written and oral form.n
  • Willingness to adhere to and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the team's investment process.n
  • Ability to work to deadlines and produce consistent results, in line with team objectives. Good organisational and time management skills.n
  • Good team player; adaptable and flexible. Able to work within a small team.
