The Biomedical Imaging Unit (BIU) is a central imaging facility which carries out diagnostic and research microscopy for both UHS and the University of Southampton.
The BIU team of 13 staff carries out electron microscopy on a broad range of diagnostic specimens in addition to carrying out research for the Faculty of Medicine and the wider University.
This nationally important unit is extremely well equipped with 2D and 3D imaging equipment using light, X-ray and electron microscopes.
Applications are invited for a band 4 Assistant Practitioner to work in the BIU. You don't have to have experience in microscopy but you do have to want to become a microscopist. We will provide the training.

- Working within our laboratories making up reagents and carrying out research and diagnostic tissue processing and ultramicrotomy.
