You need to be able to demonstrate a strong interest in patient care and an interest in working in a fast paced hospital setting.

We do not have in-patient care so experience of working in care homes will not be valued.

Accountabilities:

  • Greet patient and visitors, making introductions, and assisting patients as needed
  • Prepare ahead of patient arrival by identifying patients with additional needs
  • Provide support to patients throughout their visit
  • Assist the clinical team with minor surgical procedures
  • Take down, clean and redress surgical dressings
  • Measure patients' observations and carry out urine and blood tests
  • Ensure documentation is complete and up to date in line with our guidelines
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Work within our infection control guidelines to ensure our work methods do not constitute a risk of infection to any persons working or visiting the premises
  • Monitor and restocking levels of dressings, skincare samples etc.
  • Contribute to departmental Clinical Governance
  • Demonstrate a duty of care to our patients visiting our clinic
  • Maintaining and recording standards of cleaning
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment, taking responsibility for tidying and cleaning at the start and end of clinics
  • Communicate in a manner that is perceived as kind, constructive and helpful by patients
  • Give clear instructions about postoperative wound care to patients
  • Participate in personal and team development and inservice training activities

Key Incumbent requirements:

  • Must have valid work authorisation for the UK (no visa sponsorship or relocation is offered)
  • Three years' experience of working or education in UK
  • Experience of working in healthcare
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional approach to work
  • The understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Takes pride in organising and maintaining documentation as up to date
  • Demonstrable experience of infection control guidelines and risk of healthcare associated infections
  • Evidence of childhood immunisations and willingness to have Hep B vaccination
  • Able to promote care and establish good relationships with all patients to the clinic and to communicate effectively at all levels within the multidisciplinary team
  • GCSE English & Maths to grade C/4. Additional healthcare qualifications or training will be valued.
  • Able to take on challenges, discreet, diplomatic, and empathetic to patients and can work under pressure
  • Proficient English spoken and written
Please note that the salary range is entirely dependent on experience, and could be as much as £30,000 a year if you have relevant (e.g. dermatology) experience. Derma Reading will always pay at least the Living Wage for those aged 21 or higher.
