We are looking for an experienced Programme Manager to lead our Frontline Digitisation Programme providing a minimum standard for NHS Electronic Health Records to adhere to Digital Capabilities Framework to ensure Digital is at the heart of Patient Care.

Able to make complex, technical information, language simple and accessible for non-technical audiences is key.


As direct line manager you will be confident in all aspects of line management, appraisals, grievances, performance tracking and development whilst committed to our kind and compassionate leadership style.


This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only.

Accountable for all programme management governance tasks keeping all key programme documentation up to date. Working within tolerance and utilising knowledge and experience from Managing Successful Programmes, PRINCE2 and Agile throughout.

To work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery and escalation where required, with the ability to delegate projects of work to delivery teams whilst staying informed and tracking delivery against the overall programme.


You will be expected to adhere to our standardised approach to produce various project documents supporting governance and engagement activities, working collaboratively with the IM& T Portfolio Team to enhance and develop this aspect.


This will include complex capacity and resource planning across multiple teams where the assigned staff are not directly employed by the programme.


A good understanding of capital and revenue management is mandatory to support the effective utilisation and tracking of funds available to ensure deliverables are within cost and scope.

Experience of managing and monitoring financial resources and delivering programmes within budget.
Experience of Programme Management on major programmes.
The skills to assess analyse and synthesise highly complex information/data from several sources and make recommendations, options appraisals decisions or produce reports
Experience of benefits identification, management and realisation.

Working knowledge of digital platforms within community and mental health settings

Personal Qualities / Attributes
Experience of issuing and analysing complex data including reports, audits and surveys for projects
Ability to think innovatively and promote new ways of working, continuously striving to improve services, systems and performance.

Flexible to meet the needs of the service and able to plan and prioritise in order to meet deadlines.

Knowledge, skills and training

Degree or equivalent qualifications and specialist training to Masters degree or equivalent plus relevant specialist knowledge, backed up by practical experience.

Substantial NHS experience of facilitating and managing major programmes and transformational change within and across healthcare organisations, effectively working in Teams at both Project Management and Programme Management levels.

Working knowledge of multiple implementation methodologies e.g. Agile, Waterfall etc
Evidence of significant structured programme management skills and experience aligning to strategic objectives.
Extensive business case writing skills
