The Sales Representative role is part of the sales and marketing team and will be responsible for the front line response to our customers who are looking to purchase our unique geoscience instrumentation and services.

The Sales Representative role will be based in Daventry, UK with hybrid working available along with global travel.

The role would suit a science graduate who has at least 1-2 years of sales or business development experience in sales of geological services or scientific instrumentation.

Established in 1994, Geotek is a world leader in its specialised field of non-destructive instrumentation and analysis of geological core samples with most of its products being sold overseas.

Since then Geotek have developed a world-class services division with laboratories and projects established all around the world. Geotek products and services are sold into the Energy, Mining, Mineral Exploration and Research and Academic Sectors.

Duties and Responsibilities

General responsibilities include:

  • Using instrumentation knowledge to identify new business opportunities within the various geoscience markets. This will include establishing and participating in client meetings, generating marketing material, and working with the sales director to develop new market strategies
  • Managing and organising sales data and delivering sales reports every month and quarter to sales director
  • Organising and producing quotation and technical offers in conjunction with distributors, the sales teams, and the sales director
  • Supporting the sales administration team in processing sales orders, internal works orders and customer order acknowledgements
  • Updating customer records within CRM
  • Liaising with the production and core services team for delivery scheduling with customers
  • After sales and customer follow up
  • Liaising and working with marketing on sales campaigns to identify and maximise market opportunity new business
  • Working with the sales director to identify and review new and emerging technologies and markets for Geotek services
  • Support for overseas distributor network to promote products and identify opportunities
  • Specific level of duties and responsibilities will be set in accordance with the individuals specific experience and interests

Qualifications and experience requirements

  • Accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail expected
  • Good problemsolving skills and ability to work autonomously
  • Good interpersonal, presentation, organisational skills
  • Must be able to speak and write English fluently
  • Willingness to learn and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Effective communication skills, and ability to work as part of a small team
  • Must have at least 12 years of sales or business development experience in sales of geological services or scientific instrumentation
  • Knowledge or use of a CRM system would be a benefit but not essential
  • Must have a full and clean UK driving license
