Wokingham Borough Council has an excellent opportunity available for a Careers Adviser to join our friendly and enthusiastic NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) Prevention Team, on a full time, permanent basis.

As the Careers Adviser, you will play a key role in providing information, advice, guidance and support to young people and up to 24 for those with SEND) on a range of career, employment and learning opportunities which will enable them to progress.
Careers Advisers are expected to work across a variety of community venues across Wokingham Borough.

Provide information, advice and guidance to unemployed young people aged 16-17 and up to 24 for those with SEND (Special Educational Needs or Disabilities), from a variety of settings across the borough, helping them to identify and overcome barriers preventing them from entering education, employment or training.

Provide information, advice and guidance to young people in school who are at risk of NEET to help them make a successful transition from education into adult life.

Track the progress of young people and intervene when required to offer support and guidance.

Establish a knowledge of and good working relationships with local opportunity providers and support services to better advise and support young people into employment education or training.

We are looking for someone with significant experience of working with young people, who is committed to providing excellent guidance and support.

Ability to conduct effective one to one intervention with young people who are unemployed or at risk of unemployment
Ability to effectively use assessment tools to identify risk and needs of young people
Relevant experience of working directly with vulnerable young people
