We are looking to appoint several Junior Clinical Fellows within the General Medical team with a range of interests or specialties including, Respiratory Medicine, Geriatrics with a particular focus on Frailty, Diabetes and Endocrine services, Cardiology and within our General internal medicine wards.


It is essential that you have achieved clinical competencies at the level of foundation year 2 and that you have experience of working within the NHS in the UK.You will be an integral part of the Medical Team at the Royal Oldham Hospital working alongside an experienced team of Consultants and junior medical staff, which includes registrar supervision on all medical wards.

The post will be predominantly inpatient based including in reach to our AMU and review of patients outside of the specialty ward bed base, however there will be some opportunity for out-patient clinic work if interested.


This in-patient duty is shared with other senior clinical decision makers who are part of a current training programme, you will be expected to support the RMO and Ward medical FY2 level rota for the medical take after a period of induction on a 1 in 16 basis.

You will need to have full registration with the General Medical Council and demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills.


This post offers the opportunity to develop your clinical experience within a specific specialty, with the potential to rotate between specialties if desired.

It will also allow you to develop your procedural skills and provide opportunities to gain experience in service development and quality improvement.


The post holder will be expected to take part in the assessment and management of acute patients admitted to the ward.

They will take part in the daily assessment of patients, initiate management of these patients and perform procedures (under supervision as needed).

For the post holder attached to the respiratory ward this will also include patients requiring non-invasive ventilation. The post holder will also be expected to take a lead role within board rounds and MDT meetings.


You are actively encouraged to participate in audit/QI projects and contribute to and attend educational, departmental mortality & morbidity and governance meetings.

Ensure that you share good practice to ensure parity of quality.

Support the medical elements of the patient experience agenda for the clinical team.

To quality assure any complaint responses (medical) and ensure appropriate action plans are devised and implemented.
