JOB PURPOSE


The Principal Mining Engineer Underground is responsible to provide mining engineering, mine planning services, and leadership to meet the business needs of Endeavour Operations and Projects.

The Principal Mining Engineer Underground will ensure that the mining operations are planned and scheduled in a manner that maximizes the value of the resource whilst considering safety, business and technical risk and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

The role performs complex engineering duties on Projects and Operations with significant business impact in Endeavour.

The Principal Mining Engineer Underground brings a wide range of expertise, a breadth of experience and demonstrated judgement to mining engineering at Endeavour.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop and complete conceptual, pre-feasibility, feasibility or final design level studies of mining projects.

These studies involve development of novel approaches in situations where there are conflicting design requirements, difficulties in scheduling, problematic interactions or challenges of coordination resulting in complex consequential effects on projects or operations.nManage feasibility studies or projects involving a range of disciplines of internal experts and external consultants in pursuit of concepts, designs or plans that reflect optimal project outcomes.

This includes applying resources to projects and scheduling work to meet deadlines and budget constraints and implementing the Endeavour stage gate processes.nPrepare resource and reserve statements for reporting to the British Columbia Exchange Commission.

Will be required to act as the Endeavour corporate Competent Person for Reserves preparation, review and reporting for underground operations and projects.nWork with global teams to adopt and test new Long Term Planning process and tools to improve Long Term Planning/strategic planning practices.nSupport site projects and studies work and support strategic components of Business Improvement (Digital Office) and Strategic Planning activities as required.nAnalyse information from operations and perform investigations to report on and develop engineering alternatives to design or operational practices using complex conceptual engineers' methods in pursuit of improvements to business.

Assess the applicability of such changes to other Endeavour sites, all this being done in cooperation with other appropriate disciplines/ functions.nApply advanced mining engineering skills to situations of design or operational complexity.

This includes the selection, implementation, and modification of software; recommendation of, and input to, decisions regarding new technology; and contribution to relevant research and development.nProduce documented life of mine plans and long-term schedules for mining operations, including material movements, equipment requirements, manning levels plus capital and operating costs.

Contribute to the relevant sections of Annual Information Forms, Technical Reports and Competent Persons Reports.nDraw on experiences in underground mining to ensure the long-term deliverables are considering and applying diversified engineering techniques.nEnsure that the appropriate general mine planning software tools are available and performing adequately for Endeavour users and contribute to further development of these tools.nProvide a development and mentoring role to mining engineers based on sites.


REQUIREMENTS


Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering.nIn excess of 15 years of experience in underground mining.nQualified Person or eligible to become in due course, for the purpose of reporting of underground ReservesnExtensive mine planning, design and optimisation experience in a range of mining applications.nExtensive experience in studies evaluation, project management/scheduling and financial analysis from scoping through the pre-feasibility.nExperience in M&A, due diligence, auditing and reporting.nKnowledge of exploration methods, resource estimation, mine design, production scheduling, equipment selection, reserve estimation, maintenance development and expert systems.nHigh level of competence in the use of mine planning software.nFamiliarity with business systems and standard office application software.nFrench language skills are an asset but not required.nSelf-starter and strong facilitation and presentation skills.nAbility to work collaboratively and influencing others as required.nAbility to build and maintain a strong communications network with planning peers, Technical Services Managers, Project/Study Directors, Mine Managers, and JV partner representatives.nWell-developed problem-solving skills, with the ability to find solutions with a team or independently.nProactive work ethic with strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy.
