We have an opportunity for a Solicitor to join us on an FTC basis for 12 months to provide legal services to the Broadacres Group.

Reporting to the Resources Director, you will provide advice in the areas of property, conveyancing, and land acquisition for future development, along with providing general contract advice, either in an advisory role, by internal service provision, orco-ordination with external service providers.

You will escalate complex tenancy issues, possession proceedings and related litigation to outsourced legal providers for advice and guidance, but may appear as an advocate in the County Court or other courts as appropriate.

This role will also require you to be responsible for the management and supervision of the Association's Legal Executive and Paralegal.

This role is hybrid, and whilst remote working is possible you will likely have to attend Broadacres' head office in Northallerton at least one day a week.

• Significant experience in the purchase of land and property for development, including drafting and negotiating conditional contracts and option agreements;
• Experience of conveyancing in a social housing context, including the acquisition of property under Section 106 Agreements and property disposals under shared ownership leases or other affordable home ownership products;
• Experience of providing general contract advice on a range of commercial contracts;
• Experience in another relevant area of law, for example housing management, data protection and GDPR, or governance, would be beneficial;
• The ability to effectively present cases in the County and other Courts;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to draft contracts, witness statements etc;
• The ability to assess legal issues and instruct Broadacres panel solicitors as necessary;
• The ability to effectively manage and supervise the Association's Legal Executive and Paralegal; and
• A valid driving licence with access to a vehicle with appropriate vehicle insurance.
