ROLE PROFILE:
Electrical Design Engineer with 3 years or more experience working with IDNO's, DNO's or ICP's in the United Kingdom.

The position requires good knowledge and understanding of the DNO/IDNO G81 standards across UK & Ireland.


The successful candidate will be joining an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) who have full UK coverage, the Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of secondary substation as well as be involved with and work across other exciting new and ongoing projects.

The day-to-day duties of the Designer is to ensure that works are designed to minimise risks during the construction, operation, maintenance and decommissioning/demolition phases.

With responsibility to ensure that all designs meet regulatory, statutory, client and industry requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:


Initial and ongoing liaison with the client to establish the design parameters.nLiaising with the DNO and adopting IDNO to obtain design approval.nLiaise with client to produce accurate designs.nBill of quantities of equipment in line with relevant IEC, DNO, IDNO, and client specifications.nCable calculations, Earthing calculations & layouts and Electrical SLD.nDesign cable route plan and substation civil design / layouts / Elevations to DNO / IDNO standardnEstablish sufficient relevant information to carry out risk assessments in relation to the network type and construction methods to be incorporated into the design.nDesign the network using design tools such as AutoCAD/Windebut/Amtech, selecting the correct demand/voltage and thus the network routing, terminations and any requirement for switchgear etc.nDevelopment, review of the single-line diagrams and Protection settings.nMaintaining a record of the progress of each design project in respect of design progress, communication and notices/applications/forms etc.nEnsure design is legally compliant and if third party land access required provide information to allow wayleaves/servitudes to be agreed.nMaintaining all design records including calculations and any assumptions made.nAny other duties your line manager may assign to you from time to time.


THE BELOW EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED:


nStrong electrical engineering backgroundnExperience doing electrical design on DNO/IDNO substations.nKnowledge of power system and design at 33kv, 11kv & 400V.nGood safety culture and sound understanding of construction design and management.nProficient use of AutoCAD and / HV Amtech.nBroad knowledge of cables and overhead lines.nEngineering Qualification & relevant professional body.nMaintain awareness of Ethical Power Connections' Health & Safety policy and company policies and keep up to date on changes that impact your role.nManaging Drawing register and design submissions to the DNO/Client.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:


Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear reports tonconvey complex information in a simple way to a diverse range of peoplenAbility to work independently with strong interpersonal and organisational skillsnAbility to challenge information presentednRelevant Electrical Industry ExperiencenThe Electrical Designer must have relevant experience in the UK market with a DNO, IDNO, ICP on the UKPN and SSEN networks.nDesign experience – Underground Cables - and experience designing underground infrastructure.

nDesign experience – Secondary substation - and experience designing secondar substation infrastructure

QUALIFICATIONS:
A degree or similar qualification in Electrical Engineering discipline.

The successful candidate must be willing to travel to sites across London & South East and throughout the UK as and when required for site meetings with stakeholders.
