Premises Assistant

Job Purpose


The Premises Assistant is responsible for the day to day cleanliness, tidiness and upkeep of the School with keyholder responsibility.

One of two main key holders. Opening up the school buildings at 6.30am and preparing the school for staff and students

Attending call outs when the alarm is activated outside of opening hours.

Check the heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly

Two hours of cleaning duties

Book and assist contractors for major repairs and servicing

Parcel delivery to departments

Health and safety compliance checks including but not limited to:

  • Legionella flushing of dead legs
  • Water temperature checks
  • Emergency lighting checks
  • Fire extinguisher checks
  • Oil tank inspections
Ensuring all H&S checks are documented and available for audits

Set up halls for assemblies and events

Emergency call outs for spillages, clean up etc

Litter pick and remove recyclable items from classrooms and around the site

Assist maintenance operatives

Undertake training as required


It is vital to the ethos of the Support Team that the post holder is flexible in taking on additional tasks, willing to offer help to, and cover for, other members of the Team, and treats co-operation and support for colleagues as a top priority.

The post holder will ensure awareness of and compliance with personal responsibilities and requirements communicated by school policies and procedures including Health and Safety
