Lancashire Renewables Ltd are seeking a skilled Environmental Advisor to join our expanding SHEQ Team as the Company embarks on an exciting journey of growth and development.

The role will be based at our Leyland or Thornton facility but regular travel to our Leyland/Thornton site will be required.


As the Environmental Advisor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the SHEQ Team, including regulatory compliance, documentation management, environmental inspections and audits.

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Regulatory Compliance

  • Work in accordance with the company Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality policy, and procedures.
  • Lead, monitor and report on all site activities associated with environmental management and the MRF code of practice.

Documentation Management

  • Support in the updating of facility environmental management documentation and communications, to include the delivery of staff awareness training as required.
  • Liaise with external service providers and regulators to collate, store, and record appropriate environmental management work related documentation.
  • Effective utilisation of the company business systems (CODA, SharePoint, EPRAIS, etc.).

Environmental Inspections and Audit

  • Lead in the undertaking of environmental management & compliance audits, to include report writing and follow up of corrective actions.
  • Lead in environmental permit reporting and EA notifications.
  • Support with external audits as necessary (BSI, EA, HSE etc.)

Project Assistance

  • Carry out any other ad hoc environmental management related project work as requested by the SHEQ Manager.
  • Support in the delivery of project related activities.
  • Lead the Waste Audit Team to deliver the MRF code of practice quarterly sampling programme and communicate any regulatory changes which impacts upon the current procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Responsible for providing environmental management advisory support to site teams in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Attend business meetings and safe start sessions as scheduled.

Person Specification:

Education & Training:

  • CIWM (WAMITAB) Level 4 Medium Risk Non-Hazardous Waste Treatment & Transfer (Essential)
  • GCSE Maths and English and preferably sciences
  • Grade C or above (Essential)
  • Qualification or experience in project management (e.g. Prince2) (Desirable)
  • NEBOSH NGC1 (Desirable)
  • NEBOSH Fire (Desirable)
  • IOSH Membership (Desirable)

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 35 years' experience in a similar environmental advisory role

  • Environment Agency reporting (Essential)
  • Planning and scheduling of own work activities, audits and reporting (Essential)
  • Ability to demonstrate work experiences in:
  • Health and Safety (Essential)
  • Quality systems (Essential)
